In November 2024, Wendy Dean was game to do an interview between a conference presentation and a podcast recording. After walking for blocks through bucketing rain in Manhattan and without any formal preparation, the camera started rolling.

What was meant to be a quick 15 minutes ran more than an hour as question tumbled after question. The lens of moral injury sharpened and focused the challenges facing today’s healthcare workforce.

Moral Injury of Healthcare supported the production of Suck It Up, Buttercup, as an untapped medium for spreading the message of moral injury and for reining in corporatized care models. When we give people the right language, we can get to better solutions.

And if we take better care of the healthcare workforce, patients will feel healthcare get better, too.
